Laima — AI Transparency Notice
Last updated: 17 August 2026
We build AI booking assistants. So we'll be direct about it: anyone who chats with a Laima page is chatting with an AI, and we say so up front.
1. What the AI does
Every Laima booking page runs an AI assistant. It:
- answers questions about services, prices, durations and availability;
- takes bookings and sends confirmations;
- hands anything personal, unusual or sensitive back to the salon's own inbox or DMs.
It is not a person, and it doesn't pretend to be one.
2. How we disclose it
- The assistant identifies itself as AI at the start of every conversation, before a client has said anything meaningful.
- If asked "is this a bot?" or "am I talking to a person?", it answers honestly. Always.
- The disclosure is visible on the page itself, not hidden in a policy someone has to go looking for.
3. What the AI is built on
The assistant is powered by large language models provided by Anthropic, accessed through their commercial API. We configure, test and run the assistant; we don't build the underlying model.
Conversations are processed to generate replies and are not used to train AI models. More detail is in our Privacy Policy.
4. It can make mistakes — and what happens then
AI assistants get things wrong occasionally. That's why:
- every page is tested against real client scenarios before it goes live;
- the salon reviews and approves it before launch;
- mistakes are corrected the same day (Monday–Saturday), and we'd always rather hear about one early;
- the assistant hands over to a human when a question goes beyond bookings, prices and availability.
The salon stays in charge of its own business. The AI books appointments; it doesn't make decisions about people.
5. What the AI does not do
- It doesn't pretend to be the salon owner or any other real person.
- It doesn't generate deepfakes, synthetic voices, or images of people.
- It doesn't analyse emotions, faces, or biometric data.
- It doesn't make automated decisions that have a legal or similarly significant effect on anyone.
- It doesn't give medical, cosmetic-safety or treatment advice — those questions go to the salon.
6. If you're a salon using Laima
Under the EU AI Act, we're the provider of the assistant and you're the deployer — the one putting it in front of your clients. We handle the provider side by building the disclosure into every page we ship, so you don't have to configure anything.
Your part is simple: don't remove or hide the AI disclosure, and don't tell clients the assistant is you. If you'd like a line for your own website or bio, ask and we'll write one.
7. Questions or concerns
Email hello@getlaima.com — a human answers. If you think the assistant has done something it shouldn't, tell us and we'll look at it the same day.
